Hi Guys

Does anyone know how to get at the bearings in a Bontrager Race X Light front hub? I cannot see any way to remove the axel (no flats for spanners or anything). My Corima wheels are real easy so I suspect some trick that a hubber might know.

Thanks

David

I dont own these hubs nor have I never seen them but have you tried removing the quick release and putting a allen key in each end of the axle? I have seen a hub many years ago that you did this to turn off the end caps. Think you needed 2 6mm allen keys.Fleming2009-03-22 10:34:26

DavidTinker, those are actually DT Swiss 240 S hubs, pretty simple really, stick the end in an axle vice and pull it off, it should come off pretty easily and you should just be able to tap the bearings out.

An axle vice is a vice that grips an axle. Have a look on the Park Tool site and you'll see. As far as the Onyx hubs go, I don't know, I know the rear hub is different to the 240 S am, the front might operate on the same principal of just yanking the end off. And do try to not crush the end caps, they're not made to be gripped by pliers.
