the local agents are well known for not being very keen on any warranty replacements. Bunch of w@nkers. I dont buy or support the brand anymore.

Harry1' date=' any comments from your side ?

Perhaps an apology ?

For what?

Must be a very special kind of bike for a chain to wear there.

Go and have a look at your bike and see if you can ride without a chainring or crank

no man Krans - does Harry not owe an explanation for the chain rub on that spot ? Dragging names through the mud for his mistake ?

I mean I am no mechanic, but I sure as hell know when something is not working as it should !

Kranswurm catch a wake up and have a cup of coffee!!I ride a SL2 and that picture shows that the damage that was done to that frame was due to a chain rubbing on the frame. He dropped his chain and instead or stopping and putting it back he did what all these "funriders" do and treid to get the chain back on the chainring by pedalling.

Looking at the amount of damage done this seems to have been happening over a period of time.

So what needs to be done by harry1 is to write an apology on this forum and explain how those marks got on that frame.

Onetime.....do me a favour.I dont care what bike you ride.Walk over to it.If you can find the chain.Take it of the chainring so it drops on the bottom bracket and carefully turn the pedal andatch if the chain rotates. Also ver carefully and attentively look to see if the chain can by any stretch of he imagination touch that part of the bottomstay. Then on your way back to the computor make yourself a cup of coffee

Specialized and Le Peloton have offered nothing but great service and excellent products. if you cant read a warranty in black and white, then dont get upset when they state the facts and turn you down.

No manufacturer will simply send you a brand new frame in the post when you break your and make up a story about how it wasn't your fault. Warranty departments must have heard it all before and that's why they print a terms and conditions booklet.

No-one creates lightweight cutting edge technology that never fails... if it was steel this would never happen - but come on. The guy wore a hole though his bike like a chainsaw and then blames the importer. Not fair.

Take a long hard look at how something fails before getting all steamed up, a lot of the time it poor maintenance or bad setup.

Take some responsibility for your own actions.

Le Peloton bend the rules to keep us happy. I certainly am.

Thanks the coffee is great. Took me some time to find the chain on my bike but I did. If you drop the chain onto the bottom bracket and try to get it back up with the FD the chances that it gets stuck between the small chainring and the frame does exist. The chain will then leave a mark on the frame and do it a few times and the frame will be damaged.

If still you do not understand make an appointment with me and I will show you what I'm talking about.

I agree ^^

I dropped my chain early in the Argus on my cervelo tried like the pro's to get it back without stopping ,but to no avail. Only tried this once stopped and put the chain back the old fashioned way,

After inspecting the bottom bracket I noticed one or two small places where paint chipped from the dropped chain ,but NOTHING as serious as the picture of the grated frame in this post, but then again it's a cerveloWink

Kranswurm, exactly as you say - I am unsure how that mark got there. But it is very much a case of "something" rubbing against it.

Its not like a crack in a frame or a stress failure. Something rubbed that frame and by the looks of it for a while.

Harry1 should explain what happened and for how long. This side of the story seems to have been left out. So judgement is reserved for later. But as things stand, they dont look good for him.

Do you like rusks with your coffee? Wish they could make a rusk that doesnt leave bits at the bottom of the cup.
