How about finding out from Admin whether the current software allows a "sellers/buyers rating system" to be implemented before you decide on how it should work ?

a rating system is a great idea but i think for starters to trade on the hub your profile needs alot more info: full name, postal adress, email, contact details both cell and land, and the town you live in.

the serious traders will have no problem posting their info and the couple of skelms wont be able to to hide.

Buyer Seller ratings can become quite complicated...

On eBay for example, the seller won't leave you feedback immediately after fast payment... because they first wait for YOUR feedback and then decide what their feedback is going to be... ie.. you pay instantly via PayPal and deserve positive feedback... seller doesn't pack your item well and it arrives damaged... you complain and don't get response... you leave negative feedback for the seller... next the seller replies with negative feedbak to you... damaging your reputation...

So eBay changed it... sellers can't leave negative feedback to buyers who payed fast...

Lots to think about when implementing a rating system... I think a seller should at least make his details available to the buyer before concluding the deal...

Agreed, a good start would be getting sellers to update their profile giving the necessary relevant detail. Including something like FanDs suggestion of a scanned account etc showing proof of address would be good.

Without extra coding for theHub site, then the onus is on sellers to update their info & for buyers to make the choice between buying from people with valid profiles, or taking the risk of buying from people with incomplete profiles.

If people aren't happy about making too much personal information visable, then perhaps it would be possible to add a field to the profile page which indicates whether the person has been "certified" by the moderators. To get certified, you'd need to send all the required personal info to a moderator who would file the info somewhere (not publically accessibly). Assuming that the information checks out - proof of address matches info - that person would then get "certified" added to their profile.

[edit] Sorry, forgot to add that the scenario above should be the same for buyers. Then sellers have the option to only sell to a buyer who has been "certified".

Me too, iv provided an email address... and full name.

And also though, hubbers that have over 1000 posts can generally be trusted.

Does anyone have anything negative to say about me?

I think they need to supply input as to what's possible and what would work with the current site. It's broken often enough already, don't want to mess it up even more.

i've had a look @ the underlying db design and pretty much anything is possible.

admin just needs to decide how much he wants to add

Anyone got info as to what spambots can pull off a website with regards cellnumbers & email addresses?

Is Goose1 (and others) opening himself up to SPAM?
