For crying out load, I have now for two evenings tried to register for the MTB and Road bike, but this website keeps on throwing me out.  One would have thought that with the amount cyclists must pay for these events and then pay an administration fee (!) they can get it right?

R185 for the MTB long route and R175 for the Road bike long route with a R10 discount for the half routes, then you must still pay an admin fee.  Ridiculous, if you ask me.

The running events are an R100 less per event!!!

Make you think, are cyclists just cash cows?!

It seems we are - a grand for a pair of shoes to run in or close on a grand for a set of tires... and then wheels....and then frame....etc....

We MUST have the money, to be able to afford all of this!

Yip "muddy p", unfortunately they will just not care, for every cyclists not turning up there is another one willing to pay these prices. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

This has been on "the hub" many times before, with many of our friendly hubbers having great reasons for these high entry fees for cycle races, be that MTB or Road Bike.

We have done this to ourselves, by keeping quiet and just pay whatever gets asked...

Maybe organizing a running event is cheaper, but is it more than 100% cheaper.  I doubt that!

Did you see the goodie bag given to the Spar Ladies entrants?  (Must be 5 times the value of the entry fee and then add the free T-shirt)  Compare that we what was given at the Argus road bike event, what a embarrassment. (It was just a bag full of advertising, imagine what the advertisers must pay for this privilege!!) They should rather drop it completely, like they have done with the Argus MTB event.  No goodie bag, increased fees...  Way to go!!

Let's screw the cyclist a little bit more!!

I did my first and only knysna race in 2007. The road race is a flipping boring out and back, and you can be guaranteed the wind will be howling.

I decided then that I will not be doing this race again. With petrol, accomodation, race fees, eating out, etc, etc its a flipping expensive weekend away for a below mediocre race

The Mtb race is not technical, got some short section of single track but mostly it's on wide open dirt roads. I have to add the views are really prettyTongue Got some nice climbs in as well. Only done the 80km so far but might do the 50 this year and then the long borning road race just to keep my good roadie seeding..

R185 is not that bad. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Im with dirt girl here...

I dont mind paying R185 for this event ,this is a "prime" event and sections of the race Is in parts of the forrest to which cycling is only accesable with a R25 permit. Then They have to hire people co clean the forrest up after we go through there (otherwise we wont be going through there again)..have traffic marshals for the N2 crossing.. stuff like that.

I do mind paying R145 for the 10km mast challenge

I baulked at the cost as well, but entered anyway....I really enjoy the event.

Write them and complain, but as you say, they know there are plenty of people willing to pay the high fees.
