R210 is pretty standard and well worth it IMHO. The big ripoff is cough cough Xterra. Now that nissan is pretty much gone, i think we have to pay for the doef doef music and all the tents.

oh, mtb race is for charity too,

For those doing Harkerville during the festival - or any other time for that matter.  Do the slip trail part of Petrus se Brand as well.   From the pay point cycle about 2k's towards Knysna and take the gravel road to your right.  About 6k's up you get the entrance to the slip (marked) and blast down on what I think is the best part of the Knysna route.  Gets everything going and you are nicely warmed up for red route!!

Yes, Gansbaai, Thats a great Idea, and Yes, I love that singletrack! Its sooo fast and flows amazingly well, only have to brake a little every here and there, but almost full taps.

However, Explaun better, I cannot remember exactly which entrance this is, One can get very lost In that section as there are many trails.

Any specific markings? I grew up there but cant remember which turnoff exactly.

I have a map at home with the distances marked - will post it tomorrow and pm you.  Not that difficult to find.  The gravel road is the escape route for the petrus se brand route from diepwalle, goes through cuthbert something or other.  The entrance to the slip will be easy to find after the Knysna - it might just be slippier than normal with all the traffic!!!

Couldn't find my topo map - hope this will do.  I know the total distance to the slip turnoff is about 6k's.  The gravel road turn off is also quite well used and has a sign to something or other.  The slip itself has a little metal sign with a bicycle on it (was there last time we road it!)  We also didn't cycle all the way back to the paypoint but picked up the red route entrance.  If I think of anything else will post! Have fun

It's actually 76km or something of the sorts. You should be fine, just don't expect to win :)

Usually it's muddy in the last 10km or so but who knows what the weather will be this year...

It's a very popular race so expect lots of people. And it's so popular because it's really really nice (even with my wonderful experience last year I can say that with a smile) don't remember the exact site but google Knysna cycle race and you should get it...

I entered THE 85Km a while back. But now i'm after being a month off the bike due to that stupid old woman riding into me, all i know is i'm going to suffer. Rode the last 3 evenings since being off and boy i'm unfit. Arse is sore, heart rate sky high. So  i think this year i'll ride it and not race i'll just go and enjoy it. This will be my 6th one missed last year due to finaces. Awesome MTB race.

Dont worry about the crowds, All the singletrack is saved for the 2nd half of the race, so theres lots of climbing to sort out the men from the boys, By the time that singletrack comes at about 55km, I want a clear runway, ccause Im dragging my ass out there just for that!

Im also Unfit as hel at the moment, hoping the 9-5 wil help a bit, and a long ride this weekend, But Im definately doing it for sh*ts and giggles
