Transparency is key, nuf said.

Since the selectors are questioned about their choices, at least this gives the riders on the list a boot up the posterior where required.

Those not on the list also know that although they may have performed at one event, they still need to keep the results coming in to be considered for final selection.

I think it's good that it's a transparent process' date=' and riders are given reasons why they've been cut.  If the process was completely closed there would have been complaints as well. It's insane.

I hear what you say, but why not rather speak to/mail the riders in question rather than point out the non-performers in front of their peers and embarrass them? That wouldn't motivate me, quite the opposite in fact!

I think its a good thing. From the little I can see it looks like constructive critisism. And Im sure the only ones that are complaining are those got a bad report,.

Come on, whatever someone thought of your performance is not for public viewing. The cyclist should be consulted in person ,and given the facts. This way is the way of cowards. They cannot say it to the people in their faces, so use this way of doing it. How pathetic.

I would be so so pissed of if it was me.

CSA is not the media, they can write and speculate about performances as part of their job, but this is just so ridiculous.

What next?

BTW

Has CSA commented on the Impey incident at all?

So if the selectors say nothing they're in the *** (like with the ladies team last year), and if they do say something they're also in it?

Of course they will be slanted when they say nothing. I think everyone wants them to say it, but its the manner in which its done.

I saw it! That spreadsheet is genius, very constructive comments. I?m sure the British track association applied this nurturing approach to their youngsters too.

?Cavendish, don?t get carried away with trying to win on the road . Use the road as good training for the track .

Wiggins, your riding was not up to scratch. Pls advise if you are a sprinter or endurance rider?

That?s all Mark and Bradley needed when they were juniors, just a terse note on the end of an excel spreadsheet and they became superstars.

Encouragement, guidance, training advice, nutrition guides, psychology, properly trained coaches, non corrupt officials ? Chris Hoy didn?t need any of that to win 3 Olympic gold medals. Never. He just needed a stern word on an email circulated to all his peers. Public humiliation, that always works in bringing out the best from young, fragile impressionable athletes.
