Just had a look at Christoph Sauser's site, looked at the pictures and came across the one with all the forken trash. Not nice! It's not just in Pietermaritzburg where the dumping is going on...how do we stop this dumping disease Dead? Impose much bigger fines, go weekends and just clean up just to find fresh trash the following day, shoot the forkers when found on site?

What a stupid photo to put on your website!!!!

I hate it when people just dump their trash, we see it so much on the mountainbike, people are just lazy!!!!Angry

Good thing he wasn't in the North of Joburg! Always amazes how people dump their *** on an empty site, and most likely go home and complain about those townships whilst having a beer and braai!

I think it should be seen by the world, then maybe, just maybe something will be done about it or someone will stand up with a great idea to fight the dumping disease. Everywhere you ride, you see hidden dumping sites. If the world do not know about it, nothing will be done about it...how do they say "...out of sight, out of mind.." It still stinks!

I was considering creating a website called "dumpsterSA", for people to take photographs of idiots that dump crap in the veld. A pic of the culprits, vehilce registration, time and place. Then forward relevant pics to local authorities.

Excellent idea! What if I create a blog to start the ball rolling, I can provide a gmail address for people to send the pics of dumpsters and I am willing to update the blog as the pics come in?

Definetly an SA thing, I get to ride through mini-dumps every day. Some beautiful terrain spoilt by all sorts of junk. The powers that be put up signs saying no dumping, but no body polices these sites and enforces the fines. I would say if your caught dumping, the cops should seize your vehicle. Stuff the fine.

Some great mtb routes have been trashed by these illegal dumpers.  The hills between Voortrekkerhoogte and Ladium is now an unofficial dump site, dispite a dump just opposite Swartkop reserve.

Also many of the areas behind Mamalodi has been trashed by BUILDING RUBBLE.

Lastly, does the municipality actually do any garbage removal in Mamalodi, especially Mandela village?  The trash is pilling up against the railway lines as there is no place/ bins to put it any where in Mamolodi.  When I cycle past there I feel so sorry for all the residents.

That's just sick.

I can't think that it was part of the route.

Maybe he was just walking around and came across this.

And it doesn't only happen in PMB.

It doesn't really help if the only legal dumping site is open only three days a week, closes for two weeks every 4 months and doesn't allow trucks in. That is the case with the Gordons Bay dumping site.

The authorities want to privatise everything, but then the tender is awarded to the lowest bidder that can't deliver on half of the contract terms.
