Thus the podium mmx wheels I want to bring in (not crc) will be the rand price +10%=x +14% vat on that ?

Its duty free, plus then the R25 handling fee would be around R6800, thus no clearing/regestering needed as this is my first order ?

oK i've brought a garmin edge 500 in, only  10% and then 14% vat. no duties.  Bundle was 205 pounds x11 = R 2255 + 10% = R2480 + 14% = R2827,77 give or take.

ie. about R1000 cheaper than www.bikewear.co.za for example, IF you have free shipping.  Also keep in mind R25 clearing fee, but thats split between more items.

There have been a couple of questions on here about importing sunglasses, but none have been answered. Has anyone tried yet? And if so, did you get hit with the 45% clothing import duty?

Tariff code 9004.10/3. Sunglasses are duty free. I wasn't charged any duty on the Oakleys I imported last year.

I am importing a freebord at the end of the month and was wanting to import protective gear with it.

Do customs calculate the fee's per item or do they take the highest % and use that?

What I am importing has these custom fees-

protective equipment: 20%

Helmet: 25%

Outdoor sporting equipment: 10%(Does a freebord fall under this? Its like a skateboard)

So Will they charge me 25$% on the whole lot or will they charge me 10%,20% and 25 on each item? Also do you have to pay duties on the shipping fee?

Thanks :)
