I wonder if Bicycling could survive if they didnt have the Discovery Tie-in?

?

My personal feeling is No' date=' Never,Not a chance, Forget it, I think?they bargain on the?fact folk will gamble the few bucks on the?cheap Discovery tie-in for subscriptions.

?

Here in the local Bedford CNA I usually see piles of them at the begining of the month, and piles of them at the end of the month, I doubt very much people are buying them off the shelf.

remember that Bicycling is the mouthpiece for PPA. It's their "official monthly magazine" and they all get is for free with their R25 yearly subs. They don't care about the rest of the country, just like Losing Time.

And I just hate having to stop at all the bloody pedestrian crossings that we have, seems like there is one every 100m, and as any euro can testify pedestrians are god and don?t need to even look, as long as there?s a zebra crossing they just walk?<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I dont know, but I think the secret to survival in the magazine cycling market is to remain a four - six issue per year mag.

Tread and Mountainbiker is nice as this is just about mountain biking. Ride has a good mix. But as you say Bicycling is more about Road bikes.

If you have to ask, you're obviously not getting near any.

That was the case many years ago.

PPA members do not get Bicycling as part of their membership fee.

Service I have had from Bicycling mag was not bad. Can't say the same for their recent content...

I was not going to renew, but just before my subscription ended, my wife got a free 6 months Bicycling subscription with some promotion deal, so it still arrives in my mailbox.

The launch issue of Tread Mag was great. Hope they keep it up; already subscribed.

I read my buddy's MBUK. much better. and by the way, the subscription was done on the discovery option, hence no free anything. wtf. For normal subs they gave away a deuter hydration pack but without the bladder Confused.

Then it is simply a pack and NOT a hydration pack is it not?

I do however always rather buy Ride Mag when in RSA. I cannot have it posted as for some silly reason they charge you R1200-00 per annum for overseas subscriptions where you local yokels only pay R219-00 AND get a free gift!!!!!! Really not fair!!!!!!!!

And what seas do you cross to get to Angola?

Flipped through the latest Bicycling at CNA and recalled that most of the articles in there are repeated in some fashion from previous issues. Decided to spend my hard earned dosh on the latest Noseweek mag that's become a more regular read. Who screwed who, where, when, and for how much, is of more interest than repeats of how to do repeats, intervals blah blah blah .......
