Where do one go for good set of wintergloves. Last year bought Specialized Deflect (Correction) - not impressed at all! Pretorium2009-05-11 07:57:18

I use Louis Garneau Wind-Tex during my winter commutes. I'm not super fast so not much air leaks in. I leave home at about 6:30. When it's really cold, I just pop on a pair of running cloves as extra liner.

Buy those yellow dish washing gloves...R9.99 at any SPAR. You can turf them half way through your ride when you no longer need em.

I'm not kidding...

I take it in a bin and not on the side of the road with a gel packet smiley2.gif

By "turf" I presume you mean, put in your back pocket and dispose of properly once you get home?! Seeing that they are not exactly bio-degradable!

The planets dying anyway...I'm kidding guys! I'm kidding!

They are able to be folded up really small and placed in your back pocket. Can be used again and again...and not just on the bike!

You know, its funny ut you would be surprised what you can use/save by just being clever when it comes to winter wear.

I bought some vests from Mr Price sports, R70...and its the same thing as UnderArmour (but not as cool) for like R400 less.

Buy Columbia thermal socks from Due South for like R39 and they are incredible...better than ASSOS at R195.

Thermal undervests are going at Due South for R99, and they are the proper thermal goodies that stay dry. Way cheaper than anything you'll buy in bike shops.

The best thing I have bought for the winter is a wind jammer. I got myself a Cape Storm jacket about 12years ago and its still great. As long as it keeps the chill off your chest it works in most conditions.

I'll try the Spar gloves, maybe as an inner with the Specialized.

Interested in those Black diamonds as well, have'nt seen them yet

Go buy buy the NIKE runers gloves @ Sportsmans Wharehouse for R 99.00 and wear them under any cheap winter cycling gloves - best you can get and very warm.

I also use those thin white cotton gloves that the larny waiters use (difficult to find but most safety clothing suppliers sell them) and i wear them under my normal cycling gloves or also under a cheap pair of winter cycling gloves.

Cape Storm. I think I paid 150 or something. I stand corrected, but compared to the usaul 400 rand or something. They are small and lightweight, so if it get warm, i take them off and put in my pocket. Carry normal gloves as well for the long ride when the temp climbs a bit
