When you get beaten........

For the first time since 2001 when we started cycling a race had the nerve to stand up and beat me.

The Kremetart 2009 beat me on Saturday. I cramped about 15 km before the end of stage two. I used to be able to ride through a cramp but this one went into a violent spasm on both hamstrings. After s masage with cold elmon halves at the Toyota waterpoint we struggled on to Vivo where we officially "resigned" This was verrrrry difficult as it has never happened to us before and the decision was very tough to make.

We got lift back to Louis Trichard with a Mr Otto...... Grandson of the Otto of "Otto's Hoogte" Wonderfull people.

The Kremetart is still the best race I have ever taken part in. Organisation flawless.... goodie bag extremely wonderfull, start(s) well organised and amazing people...... Cheetah Wheelie and other...... thanx a lot!!!!!!!

Em and myself will have to rethink our training. The difficult one where we live in Angola is that we do not have any way to measure ourselves. You fall into a rut of complacency. Before Kremetart we did a 115 km training run with good average times etc. It was not enough. We will have to rethink our total strategy.

Eish BigH, was good meeting you.  A lot of people barely survived stage 3 too.  Some people could not even get off their bikes, and had to be massaged on the bike.

Next time Big H.Smile

I also had problems with cramps on stage 2, 3 and 4, I can barely walk today.

Nice meeting youThumbs%20Up

Hey BigH was good to see you again, bad luck and don't worry it happens to all of us at some point. Most important is not to give up, keep on training and come back next time and try again.

Sorry to hear you had to abandon. Better luck next time.

Go over everything that you did in the race as well as the preparation (training, warmup, eating etc) before the race. I once did the Argus on 1 ride of 70km and still did a good time. Maybe you may even find something that you can improve in the future.

Was good to meet you and a lot of new Hubbers...... and seeing some old faces as well. Pity we could not stay longer at the Potjie Feast. My gal and the best stoker and supporter in the world did not feel well.

We are at my brother in law and his wife in Vaalwater now. Windy and cold.

You at least you gave it a shot BigH, some did not even go onto the 2nd stage, as mentioned there is always next year again.

Oooh, that is against the rules. It is a well known fact in training circles that you are only allowed to stop at Fournos if you have performed some kind of physical activity of sufficient intensity to warrant the extra kilojoules.

Actually I am just jealous and hoping I can find sufficient warm clothing to allow me to ride tomorrow morning and stop at Fournos.
