And because I don't speak Afrikaans I asked a while back what the Afrikaans word is' date=' since half the time it's spelt wrong on The Hub. Apparently the mistake doesn't come from there....And yes, English isn't my 1st language either....[/quote']

What are your first language?

It's Bulgarian

It seems Bulgarian is prevalent today on the Hub, I hope it is not my past catching up with meConfused

Hat, coat......the door will not hit me on the arse as I run through itShocked

The importance of spelling, like many things, depends on the context. When I am writing an email to a client, or when I am writing an article for a magazine, it had better be bang on.

But when I am reading the puerile posting of a pimpled pedal pusher, I don't really give a crap if it is a helmut, peddle, team captian or break.

Who knew there are so many touchy people out there....

Something else just occurred to me...there's a seach box on this site. I have on numerous occasions searched for saddles on sale. Imagine I was in the market for a helmet....or a tandem....

What does the "seach" box do?  Sorry, just could resist since it was a thread you started on spelling...LOL

Look I am all for good spelling' date=' I am a Pom through and through and pride myself on the fact that I can spell words most folks cannot pronounce. That said, I do beleive that being able to spell does not prove anything. I know people at the local university who have PHDs in Nuclear Physics who can't spell to save their lives. At the end of the day spelling is just a means of communicating efficiently, it does not, in any way, dicate how intelligent people are.

That said I still write out whole words when ever I SMS some one. This short hand "texting," drives me mad.

...but if you are a physicist (HTF do you spell that?), you make damn sure you get your formulas right and if you work in the travel industry you make sure you spell accommodation correctly (two c's and two m's!!!) and if you are a cyclist you make damn sure you spell 'pedal' correctly, because if you don't take the tools of your trade seriously, how can you expect other people to take YOU seriously?

As for journo's who spell dudes as 'doods'.  Well, let's not go there...

LOL Wondered if you'd spot it!  Though conscious spelling offenses committed to enable an online sale is probably excusable.  Don't overdo it though, it might just creap into your real work. (Bugger, this spelling disease is contagious!)

Spelling is very important in this commercial world.

I heard of a chap who wanted to open a brothel, and ended up forking out large sums of cash to his dyslexic builder who built him a Warehouse.

Speaking of creapy' date=' who's going for a ride in the creapy weather we're experiencing today? Spining class for me [/quote']

No,,,, I was planning a 2 hour ride between 3-5.... but the rain is not for me. I'll rather sit infront of the fireplace and watch NWO 9.
