Dude be honest...are you trying to drop your H-levels?

EPO usually lingers in the blood stream but losing a pint should bring you into safer levels.

Just use a 500ml Coke bottle if your unsure of how much a pint is...

I read this on another website!

Get some iron tablets. Make sure they actually have a decent amount of iron in them and take a couple each day with some vitamin C to increase absorption, it will help get your red blood cell count back up.

I suppose it varies from person to person, but I would not recommend donating blood a few days before doing a race. About 2 years ago I donated blood 2 days before the race, and almost did not complete the race. I saw stars, almost blacked out and did not have any endurance or stamina at all. Since then I first look at the race celander before i go out to donate blood when i am due again.

For the medical clever guys.

If you donate blood' date=' how many days does it take for your body to replace the blood i.e. how long will it affect performance for?

If I donate tomorrow (Thursday) will I be ok for a short race on Saturday?

Hi,

I'm not sure but I think this blood is replaced by your body within 24 to 48 hours.

i am a newly converted blood donor - and i actually think that in a Karmic sense it is the right thing to do, so well done to all those here that are, and being obsessively opposed to it in the past i also understand that it is not for everyone - i really dont think that it is worth qwibbling about.

My iron consistently is 15.5 and it freaks me out because it apparently is quite high ( any thoughts on that and what are your readings)

As for cycling - if i donate on a cycle commute day - it is a hellish 20km back home - and i feel "pap" doing exersize for about a week after.

I am sure that whatever strain your body takes is good for you in the long run.
