So about R185.00 odd per person per event? I havent bothered to look at the site so I am just guessing here, but it dos'nt sound like its way over the top.? I did the road race a few years ago, it was dreadfull, that narrow road into Knysna was a nightmare with bikes and cars, dont know if they have changed the route but if they have'nt - you aint missin much.! Generally, I agree though, away races can be very expensive, especially in prime tourist destinations like Knysna where accomodation is pricy and in my opinion nothing to write home about, add it all up and its well over a coupla grand for a bike race.!!!! Anyway, I think Knysna is a little "jaded" lately, it desperately needs a spruce up and a fresh coat of paint. Planned to do it this year but to enter 3 persons, organise accommodation, ride 500km there and 500km back is impossible these days, if you do both days. Good bye Knysna wont see you again. The route has changed again this year, instead of doing the Wittedrift hill, you will just continue on the highway until the Crags and then do a u turn and head on back to knysna into the wind. It includes a permit to ride in the forests which is like R30 or something, which I'd gladly pay to just ride in the area. So "race" is like R150-155 for the 85(76)km.....which is pretty normal Magalies monster - R150 Induna - R140 Even Babbas is R110 for their long distance. So I am sorry to say but Knysna is not that much. Good news for you or anybody else is I'm not gonna use it anymore and it's avail for R150. I will then donate R300 to WW who broke his neck to help cover a bit for his enormous medical costs. Stay there for a week or two and enjoy the area. And the Oysters.Last year we stayed for a week in Mosselbay and did the race.
