I think the economic situation must have had an effect too. There simply isn't enough money to travel to South Africa for a World Cup. Not with Nissan pulling the plug. I suppose this will leave the Epic to see the best in the World in RSA.

It still sucks. I was hoping to spectate next year after missing this one.

It's plain disrespectful! South Africa has riders in the Top 3 in XCO, DH and BMX, least they could do. Anyway ... I'll bet the cost of staging in Europe is little different to the cost of staging in RSA!

Maybe it's time for a kind of "Million Dollar Challenge in XCO/DH" like in the old RSA when Nedbank put up a load of cash to attract international competition. MTN/DCM Chrome/Nissan .... anyone ... can you imagine the politics between Cycling SA/sponsors/etc.

surprising decision considering the Soccer WC is due next year. A clever choice of date could have seen a big turnout for the DH event what with so many foreign visitors to this country. I'm just supposing here.. either way. Bit of a loss.

It is a shame, I hope that Lenferna and his team are able to rescue the 2010 event. MTN might well be an option, considering their involvement, plus the mileage an event like this generates could go towards a considerable measurment of their branding strength.
