Nikki I rate your safest best is either Powdercoat one colour or anodise it. Im yet to see a good painter....maybe those guys that do custom paint on motorbikes are better.

I for one wont support CycleArt or somebody else that I wont mention

Who can be recommended for powdercoating and anodising?

I did cranks for the tandem at:-

Quantum Powder Coaters & Sandblasters CC

84 Diamant St
klerksoord
Akasia

http://www.yellowpages.co.za/images/phone_icon.gif  Phone 012 5424403

Be sure to prep properly. Any place that does not need powdercoating (remember it changes the inside diameter because it is a thin layer, or anything that has a screwthread needs to be blanked off). Speak to them and ask how you must do it. It is a beatch removing this stuff once it has been fired. Also do not use corrosive sandblasting. you MUST NOT remove any aluminium from the frame!!!!!!!

Have you girls watched "Marley and Me"? My gf says it was worst then any of these sad Greys episodes.

Read the book before the movie was even made...they left out soo many good parts!! Cried like a baby! But laughed sooo much tooo! It's a happy sad' date=' cos Marley had a great life and he was really in pain at the end. Great book! Big%20smile

Whatever you have seen in the movie - It is WAY worse taking your dog to the VET and then having to make the choice to have it put down. And the second time is not easier. Neither is putting down a 3week old puppy!

I is confused.

Why respry a frame (OK MTB Frame)? It is just going to get fkd up on the next ride.

Looking at the red paint peeling issue, I don't realy see the problem, damn it is a respray after all and penetration may be an issue.

Have you ever really looked at a car that has been to a pannelshop? This is even more scary considering they normally don't change the colour and you can see the probelms.

Ha Ha. Lucky for us on the East Rand that CA is too far away... but if it was in Boksburg I would be nervous to take my frame there. If I was not 100% happy and moaned I would get nuked by little Lil! LOL

I take my frames to JG powder coating - basic colours - well done, albeit a bit flat. Can always do a bit of clearcoat afterwards? Cost is R280/frame.

Mr Min, the regular one....... ya do not want your bike to smell like a summer orchard or apple blossom...... works wonders to take the flatness away.

I am Pro T Cycles in Klerksdorp. Yesterday I Recieved the Carbon MTB frame I sent for repairs and spraying. Thanks Cliff for service you gave me. You kept me updated on the progress, That is, from the quote till the time the frame left his shop. There is only one problem I have now. Is this the same frame I sent you, Where is my broken frame, Everything is great and I cannot even see where the frame has been repaired. What a Job Thanks

I must say I have been skipping over this thread because I thought it was the usual 'I had great service" opposed to "I had lousy service" type post.

But, flicking through I see theres more to it than just that.

In my opinion, it makes no differance when one brings a complaint to the publics attention, one day later, one year, later one decade later, many people just give up and say "to hell with it, I learnt from it and move on" however, that dos not mean they have no right to bring it up again at a later stage.

It seems from the CA replies they never make mistakes or deliver inconsistantly finished product, which is terrific, must be a real feather in their cap as most other companies do have the odd blooper which they need to correct, so I am impressed,.............. but I would suggest that perhaps they need to think about investing in a public relations assistant to handle these type of queries - their responses remind me a bit of Mr De Villiers and the eye gouging issue.

Ah the flip side of the coin, I have had great service from  Cylce Art and will continue to use them .  The MTB WILL be going for a respray and it WILL ONLY go to Cycle Art.

Just a question out of curiosity ..... what does it cost (ball park) to have a frame resprayed by CycleArt ?

Despite the negative remarks on this thread I would still have no hesitation in taking a bike to CycleArt. I have also spoken to Lillian on the phone on a previous occasion and found her to be very pleasant and helpful. I also had an excellent response from them when I asked for a quote towards the end of last year. Quick and efficient response and in my view a reasonable quote. I would still recommend them.

Jagwil ... I am sure your experience with CA is what you said in your post. First impression is what counts! I never had dealings with CA or Lilian (I don't even know who she is); however, reading her replies makes me wonder if I really want to deal with her in person; maybe with someone else at CA, but not her! But what have you to say to those that haven't supported you, Lil?

Right now is your opportunity to shine.

I for one, am not worried about the barking.

I am worried about soft paint, and pictures that show paint falling off a bicycle.

I am worried that you have defended yourself by questioning the amount of time it took for your client to come back to you.

I would still love to see some kind of response to the pictures. Surely that is not regarded as acceptable, no matter if it is a year down the line???

Cycle Art seems to have a really good reputation, and it won't have gotten that without good reason. That said, resting on your laurels is not going to win you any new fans, and will certainly lose you a few.
