snah2 Posted April 4, 2007 Share I vote for Hunter as he can sit in a sprint and "come close to winning".. AND he is from SA..
Evan Andreou Posted April 4, 2007 Share "come close to winning".. .. Sounds an awful lot like losing, unfortunately. I like RH too and hope he can take the good form he's shown so far this year and translate it into more wins
oggy990 Posted April 4, 2007 Share What about Zabel !!? I know he's getting a bit old and being over-shadowed by Petacchi, but surely he deserves a mention... (2nd at Worlds aswell)
Jean-Jay Posted April 5, 2007 Share This is a great poll, Without a doubt i think Tommy Boonen is the hottest one day speacilist racing the circut currently, super fast and strong. I vote Tom. But here are a few other names from the past that could really turn a pedal very quickly when needed. Gianni Bugno : (2xWorld road race champion and a great one day rider who could finish high in the TDF and win stages) ultra fast - modern day comparison = Valverde Laurent Jalabert : (I think oneof the greatest one day specialists still of the modern era. I think he will still, in my books, be better than Tom Boonen purely becos he could feature in the tours as well but hell could Jalabert sprint or what - super fast! Dimitir Konyshev : In his day was also very quick! tooHot!!!!2007-04-05 00:50:
Evan Andreou Posted April 5, 2007 Share tooHot!!!Agree on Ja Ja, he was a great sprinter before his accident and an even greater cyclist afterwards, always love his breakaways in the mountains. I suppose one must mention Jaan Kirsipuu and Tom Steels as well Oggy 990 Zabel is one of the finest sprinters of his generation and a real gent as wellwolverine2007-04-17 00:07:

widget Posted April 16, 2007 Share I would have to say Petacchi is the best PURE sprinter, I think he is struggeling to find form after his very serious crash, but I have no doubt he will be back. ..........that said, there are others, Rene Haselbacher is no slouch when he is upright, Allan Davis is another, Jan Kirsipuu can hold his own, some of the lead out men like Marco Velo and Gert Steegmans given the opportunity could also feature regularly. Even our little mate Damiano Cunego can be very competitive in the sprint.
Canaris Posted April 16, 2007 Share Fastest ever (Metrosexual) Super Mario Cippolini. Most consistent, longest serving ERIC ZABEL. Sexiest (in a way straight guys are worried) TOM BOONEN Awesome and exciting to watch(in a way that motorists and other cyclists want to ride over him with a lorry) MCEWEN Most foot in mouth ROBERT HUNTER
