When Holy asked me today whether I could still go for a ride after 5pm, I realised I haven't posted anything on the mtb routes here.  So I took the camera along to take some snaps and give you an idea of what a mtb (or rather atb!) track looks like in Holland.  Here goes:

A bit wet after a thundserstorm.  The route is sign posted with these little bicycle route signs:

Fun twists and turns:

These pics don't do it justice, but it's got nice flowing singletrack with some very slippery roots and mud:

The route was all mine today.  Not a soul on it for more than an hour!

How long is that route, more than 3 photo's hmm?

Looks like your Dutchmen friends could teach my Swissie friends a thing or two.

Proper mtb single track is hard to find roundabout my parts

Then on to the 'Dak van Brabant'/Roof of Brabant. It's the highest point in all of Brabant and it's an old rubbish dump! It's flat out here:

smiley36.gif Don't know exactly how long, but this route takes about 50 minutes to complete and there are three of them you can connect for about a three hour ride if you want to. Within 20 minutes bike ride I have about 7 routes to pick from! I didn't know it, but I decided to live right in the heart of Dutch mtb country! All paid for by the European Union of course smiley2.gif

When you see what they've done here with flat forest land you realiase the HUGE potential in SA for awesome trails.

There are some very cool areas to ride in over there. Spent a lot of time riding my Cyclo-X in the forest in and around Soest, Apeldoorn and Arnhem. Lots of muddy singletrack.

BTW, once did a 187 km ride and did all of 36m ascending.
