Amateur was using a seat post suspension device yesterday on her MTB which looked rather interesting.

Can users of these please give me the pros and cons of using them and whether or not they are worth the R1K?

wilmy, that was my thudbuster that amateur was using and i swear by it. i have no clue why it kept slipping down though (she told me they had to keep stopping to raise her seat). i bought it to survive the crater cruise last year and i can guarantee it worked - having done the same route one month earlier i can assure you that the difference is worth every cent spent.

Thanks slowpoke, how much can I expect to pay for one?

My nearest shop is Cajees and they will try and extract as much cash as they can from me if I don't know how much I should be paying!

wilmy, it's just over R1000.... i get a very nice discount from my home-away-from-home and i'd bought other stuff at the same time, but i think it should be around R1200

Ok enough is enough (at least that's what my sore butt keeps telling me.

I have resisted buying a thusbuster for too long. I am going to buy one before the Magalies Monster or else my butt won't join me on a ride again!!!

Where did you buy yours and how much was it?

Do Suspension Seat Posts Actually Work?

Yes they do! They are no substitute for a full suspension bike setup

but will certainly reduce the bumps and shock that you get riding

offroad or if you're riding a hardtail so if that's you then definitely

go for one."

considering a thudbuster is 0.1 (ie 1/10th) the cost of a decent full susser, for the cash-strapped amognst us it's the only way to go. Wilmy, you will not regret it.

Ah but then a full susser is no substitute for a hardtail.

A hardtail is always going to be faster on a climb and now with a thudbuster I will be able to go even faster downhill too.

I can't see why anyone would waste so much on a full susser unless they're used to riding on smooth tar!
