Hi Guys,

We have had a lot of emails about the licensing issue. Please see below the rules in KZN.

Seeding for the Pick ?n Pay Amashovashova Cycle race 2007

Please note ALL Cyclists wanting to participate in events in Kwa Zulu Natal:

RACING LICENCE: The cyclist must belong to a club. The cost of a Full Licence is R110.00 and R55-00 per discipline

CYCLOSPORT LICENCE: The cyclist must belong to a club, more for the recreational cyclist and beginner. The cost is R55.00 and R20.00 per discipline. Riders will be on the national data base and will be seeded.

TEMPORARY LICENCE:You do not have to join a club. This will cost R30.00 per event. The rider will NOT be seeded in any event entered. Rider will start right at the back. The cyclist will NOT be on the national seeding index. If a cyclist has been licenced previously he will not be able to purchase a temporary licence.

DAY LICENCE: This will be for the cyclist that is licenced and whose details are on the national data base but does not produce his licence at registration. PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR RIDERS TO ALWAYS CARRY THEIR LICENCE AND PRODUCE IT AT REGISTRATION.

When a rider enters an event from Gauteng he will produce a credit card type membership card, this is acceptable as well as the PPA membership card, to enter into the events in the province.

Seeding will be based on the Supercycling seeding index and will use Winning Time and Champion Chip.

This is totally out of our hands. It is a CSA rule that has come into effect as at the 1st April 2007. It is on our website, on the home page. Thanks

Who will do the admin and will foot the bill to have every person checked that enters your race.

I think there goes a number of your entries who will not enter your race.

Day licenses was scrapped by CSA. How can you now issue day licenses to riders.

Is this a rule brought in by CSA or Kzn cycling. No decision was taken on this matter at last years congress.

That is not very nice Big Mamma!!! It does not apply to only the Amashova, but to ALL races through out the country.

I know the 94.7 plan the same thing . If they also do this at the World Fun Ride Champoinship for next year then I will definitly have a few road bikes for sale .

It sounds like your whole registration will be done by CSA Officials as they are the only ones that can issue numbers to licensed riders, etc. It is going to cost you a lot of money for food, petrol, accommodation and payment for the officials.

I've entered and I don't have a license (yet) - because I WANT TO ride the Shova.

Will worry about it close to the time, or if other races in Gauteng force me to get a license earlier.

Shova sorry to shock you but in certain provinces this is not applicable.

How many of the people that do your race belongs to a club and are willing to pay you THE EXTRA MONEY TO DO YOUR RACE.

You are now trying to force people to join a club to get a license. Many cyclists do not want to join a club because they feel they do not get value for their money.

Under the constitution we have freedom of assosiation. This rule is trying to deny us that right.
