I used to work for a company that manufactured conveyor rollers for the mines (Dia.63mm and bigger). The basic concept was a steel tube' date=' 2 bearings, end caps, and a solid steel shaft.

Yip, those is what I used when I made mine.

ok here's the measurements on mine.

roller circumference = 250mm

total rail lenght = 1310mm

width = 370mm

distance between "rear" rollers (fixed) = 270mm

distance between "front" (can be adjusted) = 880 mm

I hope this helps, didnt have to make a drawing or anything.

The belt is indeed O-ring and it can be purchased in lengths from Bearing Man. Comes in various diameters up to 20mm. You simply glue it with superglue. I bought some once for a swimming pool sand filter lid seal. Cost a bomb though.

Buy a set of rollers.

But if you don't want to listen to that advice, have a look at PVC plumbing pipe. It comes in 40, 50 and 100mm dia and is cheap. Nice sturdy end caps are also available that can be used to house the bearings. Make sure you buy SABS-grade pipe though, it gaurantees uniformity in size and sidewall thickness.

I remember seeing a company in Wadeville called Rubber Rollers, they used to manufacture rubberized rollers for conveyer belt systems, very similar to cycling rollers. If your in the area might be worthwhile to see if they still exist.
