Ja thats coz burry used to ride with Kenda Karmas' date=' which IMO are reaaaallyyy crappy tyres.  Even Ive cut one just riding down a plain dirt road, nothing technical at all.

I think he's doing much better on the spesh tyres ?

I agree and disagree with you hear.....

I started with Karma's (back and front)....yes crappy tyre for back.....

but it gives brilliant grip on the front,  (my front tyre has done more than 3000km..... good for another 1000 probably......)

You are going to battle to get the weight of that bike below 11 kilo's. I have a similar bike to that. The weight of certain items bottom out at some stage. Wheels at 1.5kg, a fork at 1.5 kg, durable tires at 600g, seatposts at 180g, handle bars at 140g, disc brakes at 400g.

A 120 gram handlebar broke on me 2 months ago. Ek het my gat af geval. Be careful of going into the gray area of "should be strong enough".

Exactly, and whats it going to cost you to get it down to 11?? a arm and a leg (literally) I have since started building a hardtail to race with, I should get it down to 11kg from the start, Its probably going to cost me 3kBig%20smile

As time goes on and I have more cash I wil upgrade to discs- mabe a light FS frame etc.. but Its just not worth it huh..

Look out for my HT! I wil post pics in a week or two.

Yep, I must admit after getting my carbon gt ht, I've spent so much on it to drop 1,6 kg and get it to 10kg, that I just stuff the lbs slips into the drawer.

I might die of a hart attack at a you age if I add up all the upgrades...

I agree Marius.....  I'm not a weight weenie... (yet) Embarrassed but if I were to become one' date=' I wouldn't use skimpy tyres.....

I think you need more than one hand to count the amount of races Burry Stander lost due to puncturing out....

exactly!

it all depends on how you ride, how aggresive you are on the bike and how much you weigh. I was using normal kenda karmas the stick-e ones and running them tubeless but puncturing way too often. Running karma tubeless tyres now for about 3 months and not one puncture touch wood. You may save weight running lighter tyres but how much time do you loose fixing punctures... ???
