Chris was on my mind the entire race on saturday and there were a few comments made in the group about the crash (basically guys just saying take it easy, remember the crash) I spoke to the guy who was first on the scene with Chris and he said his heart just isn't in it since the crash.

Chris was moved to the wards today, and hoping to get his arm operated on this week, I am going to visit him tomorrow.

Thanks udxcob - its really good to hear that Chris is on the mend. I must say the guys were very skittish on the 99er - a couple of close calls - especially in the rain. Chris's accident is very much still on the mind of many cyclists. Lets hope and pray he is able to make a full recovery !

Guys - when is the Argus training ride scheduled for ?

Sounds like 'Dale and Tiny K is doing one this weekend, Sunday I think.

As I'm doing the Medallion on Sunday 19/02/12, and the Bay City on Sunday 26/02/12, I am planning to do an Argus route ride on Sat 03/03/12 (the weekend before the Argus). Won't be able to do it on the Sunday, as it would mean that I missed church 4 weeks in a row.

Meezo, I once got taken out in a race at about 45km/h, when someone cut in and took the guy infront of me's wheel out. . Fell hard on my back, but miraciously no injuries (landed flat on my back and skidded, no tumbling or anything). Took me a good couple of races to get back into racing in a bunch. I can clearly remember that with the next Argus I did, I was at the back of the group by the time we got to Hospital bend, as I was over cautious, and kept on creating gaps between me and the wheel infront of me. So yes, it does take a while to get your confidence back.

Best of luck to you with your recovery process.

Ah dude, I am in your boat now. It is psychological but you will get over it - the first choice is how YOU will let it affect you. It is all about choice at the end of the day. You know how you rode pre-accident, now you choose to ride like that again. You will be a tiny bit skittish in the beginning but it'll get better.

Saw my butt at the 99'er - was thankfully towards the back of the front bunch so not too much carnage caused there. Fell hard. Was only 26Km's into the race - had a choice, bail or drop out (still having 96Km's to go). Decided to carry on and rode a decent time. 24 minutes after the winners. Would have loved to have been closer but if you add the accident, it was decent.
