I was planning to do the WCE, but I have some big deadlines due for the end of the month. I might have to give the races a skip and get the work out of the way.

Uhm okay, remember the Burger registration is open.

Summer is definately on the way!! On my ride yesterday afternoon the SE was seriously pumping. Going out on Klipheuwel road, it was an easy spin to maintain between 35-45km/h. Turning left onto Philidelphia rd the going got a bit tougher, but the wind still helped me keep my avg round about 30km/h going up those rollers. Turning left onto Malanshoogte rd / Koeberg rd, it was like I deployed a parachute, speed dropped to below 20km/h. Pedaling hard on the descents I could get to 30km/h, but no more. Any ascent was a serious grind, with speeds dropping as low as 12-15 km/h IN THE GRANNY GEAR with my HR in the high 170's.

Still was not a bad ride, I got a lot of comfort out of it. Despite the strong wind I did not tire too much and still felt strong up those last ascents. Avg for ride was around 25 km/h. Can only get better from here on in.

Looking at the weather forecast, the SE is staying in the high 20's for this week and next.

Yeah, Wannabe...

I noticed the trees dancing when I drove back from work.

Well done.

Fortunately, it's my 'easy' week and I am not spending a lot of time on the fiets.

Tonner coming up on Sunday.

Anybody that would be interested in doing a recce of the Durbanville route on Saturday 20 October. I know the WCE is on the Sunday, but that should be an easy race for all you guys out there that trained right through winter. I'm not doing the WCE, so that is not an issue for me. :whistling: ;)

Pace will not be hard (TITS is the idea), and to refresh the layout of the route in the memory banks.

Haha yeah that stetch is tough with the SE! I rode out on Koeberg road on Monday and coming back was quite a struggle!

I presume that the route is the same as always, with roadworks completed on the 27th...

On the website they say it is the same as last year.

Hoping the roadworks will be completed in time.

Why do you think I'm training those last few kilometres!!

And the SE breeze can add some real value for one's entry fee!

Anybody not racing the One Tonner this Sunday that will be interested in a relaxed ride on Saturday?

Not at the crack of dawn, and between 60-80km. Avg 25-28km/h. Start at 08h00 at Mc Donalds in Wellington rd, Durbanville.

Weather forecast is looking good, if not a bit windy. But that is not a bad thing, as we must again get used to riding in the wind.
