Some inspiring bits:

Mont Ventoux Quick Facts

Distance : 21 km

Summitt : 1912 m

Start Altitude (Bedoin) : 290m

Vertical Ascent : 1610 m

Average gradient : 7.5 %

Maximum gradient : 12.0 %

- The fastest time recorded up Mt Ventoux from the Bedouin side was Iban Mayo in the 2004 Dauphiné Libéré. He did it in 55′ 51″. Trained amateurs will climb to the summit in 1’30″.

- Mont Ventoux was systematically deforested from the 12th century onwards for the shipbuilders of the naval port of Toulon.

- Ventoux is French for or ‘wind’. It can certainly get windy at the summit. Wind speeds as high as 320 km/h have been recorded and the wind blows at 90+ km/h 240 days a year. The three times I’ve climbed Mont Ventoux, there’s hardly been a breath of wind.

Ooh, hope for your part it is only the paint. Otherwise you can trade it for a new Dale, to be friends with your Lefty.

Ooh would love that but would probably stick to italian for the road

Cleaning my bike on sunday aftter my dismal performance, i noticed a substancial crack behind the seat tube, hoping its just the paint cracking.

Me and Colliehond! I am doing the 65 km and he the 85km. Heard the road between Melkbos and Atlantis are a bit tricky with all the potholes!

Training for the WCE!

Awesome.

I've not touched my bike since Sunday. Lots of work focus this week.

Yes, was going to go out again this morning, but with eina legs and the wind being horrible, I decided on a restday. Will do the loop again Thursday and Friday morning if the weather permits. Has everyone received their PPA numbers?

True story! Check post and if nothing comes before the weekend you can sort it out at registration on Sunday.

Instead of improving, the forecast for Saturday (and Sunday) is getting worse. cursing.gif If it's gonna be raining and strong winds, I'll rather cuddle up in bed with my wife. devil.gif whistling.gif
