From velopeloton.com,

Luz Ardiden is a ski station in Hautes Pyrenees. About 30km south of Lourdes in a valley known as Pays Toy (country of the small people). The climb starts in the spa town of Saint Sauveur at 710m altitude and climbs for 13.4km to the summit at the ski station at 1720m. The average is 7.6% and the max is 12%. It is a very well engineered road constructed in the 1970's, with 25 hairpin bends and long straight sections in between. A beautiful ride up, the descend is the best there is anywhere. Period.

Ride starts at 07h00 fromTraffic Light on the corner at Graanendal Shopping Complex.

Go out on Klipheuwel road, turning right towards Phisantekraal, going over the Fruitsellers 4 way Stop to R44. Right onto R44 to Stellies (basicaly last section of Burger race) From Stellies back on R304, Phisantekraal and back to Graanendal. Pace will not be hectic, distance not measured but should be in the region of 80km give or take a few km.

Keep your eyes peeled at the 'hot spot' as you enter Stellenbosch, by the Cloetesville flats.

There's been a spate of attacks on cyclists lately.

Ended up riding on my own (left at 07h05.) RollandBounce caught up to me in his Bakkie to tell me he's not able to ride. Tx Bud. thumbup1.gif Will PM my tel no. to you for future use, much less hassle. whistling.gif

Ended up doing 84km at an avg of just over 26km/h. Weather was lekker, but that W N/W wind pushed me around a bit on the R304 section.

Saw lots of cyclists on the R44, and all behaving well. clap.gif Well done guys.

Nice form building there, Wannabe...

Twelve of us crossed the beautiful Du Toitskloof Pass and Bainskloof Pass through sunshine, mist and troops of baboons.

Where did you start out of interest? Did you follow N1 after Du Toits and then head out on R43 before Worcester towards Bain's? That DC team must be peaking by now.
