How did it go out there?

The weather was wintery... I was working today and missed my iron horse.

The route is 120Km which we did in Sub 5Hours I then continued Home via Detour.

Rain was not bad on the Route but I got wet after leaving Somerset West on my return all the way into Bellville.

WET and COLD but I am Home. 230Km in Sub 10 Hours, 26ave maxed 72km. 2200m ascent 5554Kcal.

Half was Solo.

Plattekloof > Somerset West > Sir Lowerys pass > Botrivier > Kleinmond > Betties Bay > Gordons Bay >Somerset West > Stellenbosch > Klapmuts > Joostenburg > Bellville > Plattekloof.

Rain at top of Sir Lowreys and then again from top of Clarence Drive monument to home in S/west....not too heavy though. Wind did pump fairly hard from Arabella to S/West !!

Ride was awesome though.

Puncture Boy aka Frial David John had 3 puntures WTF ???? .... and a mate of ours had spokes (2 before we hit Kleinmond) bust on his SRAM S4O front (?) wheel...... so we had a bit of a stop-start technical ride !

Technically.

One before I arrived.

One on Route.

One was leaking valve insert, repumped.

Any of you guys keen for a +-150k ride on Saturday (weather permitting)???

Would love to but got no wheels..... no seriously - I've literally got no wheels. Back rim (32H) stress cracked at 8 to 10 spokes on drive side. Spare rim has buggered hub (36H).

Waiting for stuff bought on the hub today to do repairs.....doubt it's gonna be ready for the weekend but one can always hope. Anyone know how long and at what price CWC is?

Looks like it.

Sorry Marius, would have loved that 150km on Saturday, but got visitors from up country, if I'm able to go out at all it must be a short (50km or so) ride.

I'm planning a Sunday ride of approx 120km. From Durban Rd/Old Oak to Stellies, over Old Helz, then ride like a pnoes through Pniel, left at Boschendal and on through Paarl, then back to Durbanville via Fisantekraal.

Relaxed pace, no willy waving, really just aiming to get a long ride under the belt before the One Tonner.

HAHAHAHAHA!! I see now - need to re-spoke 3 wheels. 1 for 'new' rim and 2 for 'new' hubs.

Marc closes at 5 so not gonna make it in time. CWC closes at 6.... can make it for then.
