Hi,

1)  Has anybody done that?

3)  Do any body have instructions on how to do it / drawing of the shock and its internals

4)  Does anybody know of somebody taht can do it?

Pappa Bear:

1.) Where did you hear of this internal "spacer"

2.) What is the year model and spec on your shock? [stroke and eye to eye]

3.) What bike is it on?

4.) Why would you want to do this?

1 - Internet

2 - Fox DHX 5.0 2007 model dont know the rest

3 - Demo 7

4 - then I get 7.7" of travel instead of 7"

Pappa Bear... just did an e-check for you, its not an internal travel chip. Its a travel chip under the bottom-out bumper. You can remove this yourself quite simply:

"NOTE: Stock setting for the shock stroke is 2.375?, resulting in 7.3? of travel. Travel can be increased to 7.7? by removing the small travel limiting chip located under the bottom-out bumper on the shock shaft.

When increasing travel, it?s recommended to reduce spring preload, or drop to the next lower spring rate to keep the recommended sag percentage."

Again, its not an internal change, its simply a travel chip which is slotted over the shock shaft in order to reduce its stroke. You should simply need to loosen the spring preload collar, push back the bottom-out elastomer and remove the chip.

Ah hA........ so that is what that disc is.....

saw it but could not figure out what the purpose was......  Guess Specialized spoke to Fox and asked for a shock that will give their bike 7" of travle so fox took standard shock with travle limit "disc"

I'll remove it and see if I can feel a differance.......

Thanks for your offer Johan, If I don't come right I will contact you.
