@ Hey you, those decals don't look like typical Alan decals. Any chance that is a respray?

Could well be a respray, but it's not aluminium and does not have lugs!

The owner is insistent that's it's a real Alan, but I don't think it is.

Don't know what it is, tubing decal says chromolly and there are no other markings, so I have no idea!!!!

The Carlton was a British make afaik.

The Gitane is a well known French manufacturer. I don't think they exist anymore.

First time I have heard of a Peugeot Calypso. Any labels of what tubing they are made of?

Raleigh made some Carlton frames under licence in SA in the 70-80's

Hi, this is my first post to the forum and hoping someone here could help me or point me to someone that can.

I am doing the Tour of Ara and trying to get the gearing for my 80's Peter Allan sorted. I am looking for a 7 speed thread-on freewheel with a 30t biggest cog. I know from google that these were made but the only current stock I can find is 32t max which puts me over the max 33 gear inches allowed.

My crank is Strong Light with a 38t small chain ring and I think finding a 39t for that (to go with a 32t freewheel) would be even more difficult.

Anyway after reading quite a few pages of this thread I thought that one of the members here might have what I need it their parts box :)

Thanks,

Barry

I had one. Think I got it in about 1981/2. Was a Carlton with a Raleigh badge and Reynolds tubing. It had the interesting Shimano Selecta cranks. I've searched high and low for a pic on the net, so assumed it must have been an SA only model.

I think I remember those cranks - the freewheel was in the bb/crankset, so you could change gear with the front or rear derailleur without pedaling - there was no freewheel at the cassette, so the chain was always running.

I recently acquired a Raleigh built Carlton and will post some pics later. The bike was involved in an accident and needs a new fork.

I need some help and assistance.

Having recently acquired this NOS drive side Dura Ace 10 pista crank for its beauty I would like to find a partner (left crank arm), sprocket(s) and chain. The arm is 170mm in length.

Is anyone aware of where I might get a 10mm pitch chain and sprockets?

Anyone recall which LBS may have stocked them?

Until I find parts I have placed the crank in my wife's display cabinet in the TV lounge hoping it will take a while for her to notice before its thrown out.

Please help!

My wife unfortunately is very good at finding my bicycle parts in the house and promptly orders it to the garage.

Nils and Rolf at Woodstock Cycleworks are your guys. They're on the Tour too, anyway.

Thanks LeTurbo,

I have been hunting through all their old bits with no luck which is why I asked here. Although maybe I should start my own thread where more people would see it, what do you think?

I am new here so didn't want to seem too pushy.
