4 days, Mintsauce, that's impressive. Well, to me anyway, because I'm a tortoise where repairs etc are concerned. Very lovely bike - but yes, an old brown Brooks would be the shizz. (Actually, I don't know about old - aren't they supposed to shape themselves to the rider's bum, so it's a very personal, once-off thing.)

Gummibear, that's really interesting. So Bugatti were building bikes aarly, and Heartcoppi's pic is a restored version. Ettore Bugatti died in 1947 and the company struggled on into the 50s, so I wonder when this was made. He was an incredible engineer - they still can't work out how he made his hollow front axles on cars - but that one looks like it could be heavy with the 4-tube construction. Seems a bit over-engineered.

Just got this today.

1989 Bridgestone MB1

Except for the tyres and the bar ends everything else is original. Will take some better pics in the morning.

What do you think of this? It's my reliable chromoly Cosmos road bike with 9 speed Shimano 105/Tiagra.

Don't know anything about the frame, please let us know if you do.

I'm in need of a seatpost. Looking for a 26.8mm. While I wouldn't mind a nice old school Campy unit, anything will do right now.

Let me know if anyone has anything. Thanks.

Well, I got my CBT Italia, back from the paint shop and looking forward to putting it back together over the next few weeks. Got a complete C record gruppo, new San marco regal, brooks bar tape and a few other goodies to put on. I am quite happy with the paint job and should look good with the chrome parts.

Latest Woodstock Cycleworks creation_pinarello treviso SS

Check out the "What's your screensaver" thread - your Vitus is being used by Specialised <3! I didn't see the end result, but it sure is damn hot. But then you know I'm jealous of the buyer.

Well, as indicated earlier, I am still working on my 1976 DHC bike - bought new for R 175,00 at that stage.

Everything still in working order, but although the bike spent some time on my trainer, I have not ridden it much.

Got demoted to the store room and eventually I decided to rebuild this into a SS.

Had some problems in getting the wheels cleaned - the chrome was badly pitted and dirty and nothing, not Brasso nor Burnishing compound could get anything right. Answer was to either buy new ones or get these re-chromed. But fear not, as steel wool came to the rescue!

Here I have to give thanks to John from Cajees Cycles in Boksburg for his help - the wheels look stunning!

When last did you see handle bar tape of 36 years old?

And, how about these safety brakes?

Just to show off the lovely DHC badge ...post-17970-0-64731000-1312984936.jpg

I have some problems with fitting the chain (BMX - because of the wider free wheel sprocket at the back)as the derailler is in the way and not yet lined up properly. Anybody can advise me where to get any other tensioner for the chain as opposed to a derailler?

Brake cables will finish it off for now (still unsure as to whether or not I'd like to get this repainted - where will I get stickers again?) but I want to ride this as soon as possible.

Will keep you posted ......
