EigerSA Posted August 8, 2009 Share What an awesome way to make a living! It's kinda sad though that we in South Africa don't seem to have any sort of custom frame builders up and running. I looked a little while ago at having a bash myself, but found just sourcing the steel itself is a nightmare and pretty much undoable! So ended up starting one in carbon fibre. Have a look at these fellows, (http://www.sirenbicycles.com/) (http://www.tedwojcikbicycles.com/mountain-bikes.aspx) both custom frame builders. And what may be especially interesting, is that these are the bikes (steel frame) that are predominantly used for extreme ultra-distance mtb events like the "great divide" and the "idatrod".
