nice looking lid. will do the job. But not designed to work with a Leatt brace. But adjustments cna be made to the brace to make the lid work, so it's not a showstopper.

had my first concussion in that lid though. Not saying, just putting it out there. Still have that lid though, as a backup :)

ye I saw, but 30% import duties on helmets :S

So will cost the same as a FF from CWConline...going to CT in like 2 weekends time anyway and GF lives across the road from CWC...So will make a turn there too...

Not too sure about the Fox one in my post above...think tis a 2007 model anyway :(

Posted

hehehe...oops...slip of the eye there ;)

Yeah, I did see those online :)

You guys reckon that is a good price?

I wear a Fox Flux L, so would that mean a L in the FF as well? Think the Flux L is 58cm and bigger.

I would spend R350 more and get the 661 Evo...

but that's mostly cos I love my 661 Evo.

Otherwise... the Fox and 661 Strike are a good price... especially considering that most LBSes will only have Giro Remedies or Bell Bellistics and the'll charge you aroubd R1500 up for those.

What size is your knoggin (cm wise?)

cos if you're in the 60-62cm category you can get a 661 Evo from CRC all Duties, VAT and Shipping for around R1000

Thats if you don't mind waiting...

and the legend black or legend white look rather dashing ;)

Yeah...saw the Evo on CWC...

The one on CRC is too big unfortunately...would have liked it in plain black.

The head is like 59cm circumference, so I reckon a L is best for me...

Going to CT in about 2 weeks, so will look at CWC then i guess.

Cool...so ordered the 661 Evolution New Wave from CWC...http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/661-evolution-new-wave-helmet

Got some nice goggles (to match the bike) as well , Thor Enemy X-Ray with mirror black lenses :D

Now just some damn knee/shins...but then again there are already soooo many scars on the shins that I'm wondering if it really matters :P

Posted

nice lid thermo :). btw why u take the mirror black lense? u have eagle eyes + x ray vision? unless it's super bright outside, u gonna experience decreased visibility. then again, i have crappy eyesight.. <_<

Knee shins: Astars Moabs, TLDs or just the near-standard 661 Kyle Straits, which I wear easily 99% of the time. It's only if I know the track is really rocky, that I wear full knee+shin guards.

lol...Mirror black because they gonna look cool :P ...but they still come with the clear lens as well, so I can swap out :)

Yeah, tough to find RSA (well for me anyway) suppliers of knee prot...well at least as far as I can tell.

If you order from CRC are they classed as "garments" at the 40% duty?

What a life man...i'm trolling the interwebs on a sat night...at least you are damaged and have an excuse :P

Busy watching Kranked 5 and 8 and gonna watch rampage 200 again now now before sleepty time for fun ride on the morrow.

How the healing coming along Cap?

Posted

healing is going very well thank you :)

had my 2nd easy ride today. Wrists still abit sore, and it feels abit weird wearing wrist wraps (just in case i bail again :P ). No nerves, no jitters. pretty stoked. Was just so glad to be out there. Should be back to my normal riding style in good time, but i will take next 2 weeks pretty easy as still have to wait for the skin to grow back. Spend more time building real muscle etc.

yep, garments from CRC hit you the heaviest.

njoi the fun ride tomorrow :)

Fits rad and can't wait to test it out on the course...when it dries out a bit :(

Just a question though...how do u guys clean it inside from sweat/etc?

It doesn't seem like the lining is removable or anything?

Yep, my fox lid had removable liners that got washed often. Must still check my THE, but i think they are removable as well.

If you cant remove the liners, can it not be dry cleaned? I dunno, i'm asking. not sure how dry cleaning works.

if that's unfeasible, just wash the whole thing, but make sure it's very mild detergent and let it air dry properly. Should not be a problem.
