I've just upgrade my bike and now have hydrolic disk brakes.  I took the bike out for a ride today and the brakes worked fine.  Now after I cleaned the bike the brakes squeal like all hell.  Is this because they are wet?  and will it go away on its own or do I need to do something?

give the pads a light sanding on a flat surface. Also give the discs a wipe with white solvent and a soft cloth.

This solved my squeeking

Most pads need to be measured with a vernier caliper after they don't seem to work that well anymore. If the thickness of the pad is below the specified thickness by the manufacturer they need to be replaced

I have the stroker disk brakes & have noticed what appears to be a pin or the rear set.

Does anyone know approx. what average mileage you get before having to change the pads?

If I recall, the Strokers have a long thin bolt keeping the pads in place, use a small allen key to remove the bolt and then pull or push (push if possible) the pads out. Briefly about a year ago helped a friend with Hayes Strokers, no matter what he did those brakes squeaked and to be fair squeak is a nice way of putting it.

My brakes often squeak after washing just ride the bike and use the brakes to generate a bit of heat all the noises dissappear within a minute or 2.

I work at a motor dealership and most of the cars are the same after washing.

Just remember to keep any kind of oil away from the discs and pads and NEVER touch the discs with your fingers. The oil on the fingers will affect your pads.

I learnt both of these leasons the hard way. Oiled a squeaky front hub on a trail and forgot, lube had splashed on my disc, coming around a corner I climbed on the front brakes and duly high tailed it into a tree, I accidently rubbed my leg on my rear rotor after a gnarley bit of downhill, I now have a scar on my calf that looks like I have a 1/4 of an XT rotor implanted under my skin, not to worry though chicks dig scarsLOLLOL
