Wonder if they'll do a version for cyclists?

'Taxi Wars' really takes off

<?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Johannesburg - At least 70 000 South Africans are sufficiently frustrated with their arch enemies on the road - minibus taxi drivers - that they are rushing to beat them up in cyber space.

This is according to iLogic, the creators of online game Taxi Wars, who claim to have tapped into the "vein of public frustration".

The website has received a whopping 70 000 visitors in the 24 hours since the site first appeared in the media.

iLogic director Yoav Tchelet said: "This has been an interesting couple of days we've had to move to a server with greater band width. The public have clearly spoken on the issue."

'The frustration runs deep'

The game allows motorists to vent their latent frustration after being overtaken, cut off on the road or delayed while the taxis hog the slow lane one too many times - by pummelling both the vehicle and its driver and then signing off their handiwork by spray painting their name across the shattered vehicle.

Shortly after the game entered the public domain, taxi drivers made light of the public's perceived dislike of them, but iLogic said the popularity of the game "serves to prove that the frustration runs much deeper".
