So at 10am this morning my 19"TFT, camera got repossessed. Someone felt that it would better furnish their place than mine.

This is all thanks to my sons wonderful nanny who left the (ground) flats front door/gate wide open while she and my son went to hang up the washing in the back.

I was really pissed that it happened but was only too glad that this perp did not enter the flat while my son and nanny where inside. Their safety is the most important ...

but

... after I comforted the nanny telling her this did she only then tell me that she had actually caught the guy in the flat earlier. She had walked into the lounge where my 2yr old was watching TV to find the guy inside. She asked him what he wanted and asked if we where receiving our plastic bags for recycling (its a Cape Town recycle project where they collect our recycled rubbish once a week).

She then directed him to another flat where my landlords parent live. She then went to go hang up the washing with the flat open.

So now I'm a PC screen short and but at least they took our camera which I was finding an excuse to replace.

Nanny still employed. Don't suspect her at all as she has too much to loose and has never done anything to create distrust. We also pay here an excellent salary (R3K) with very good working conditions.

Just want to ad that there are a dozen suspicious characters working around in the neighborhood today and police are going to have their hands full when people get home tonight.

The jnr cop at the Somerset West police station was really helpful and put in a lot of effort in my statement. No reflection on them but I know I won't get my goods back. He can't sell them at Cash Converters as he never took the cables and most likely caught the first taxi home.

At least he did not take my bike !!!! Unlike the poor gardner at the cop station who had his pride and joy raleigh mtb taken off him - kinda felt sorry for that dude.

Yip, this type of behaviour is becomming more and more common nowadays.

Last week my mother in law actually had a conversation with two neatly dressed individuals in her complex ...little did she know that they had just burgled her neighbour's home of all their jewelry...

They are so cool calm & collected, the even have time to chit chat to whomever they come across on they way out of a burglary!!!

Still do not know how they gained access to a security complex (no guard, just access codes & remote access).

"repossessed"!!!! so you had this guys camera?

Well everything I have in my possession actually belongs to others - until today I thought it was only my wife but it seems not.LOL

Well this evening the nanny had calmed down a bit, and I was able to find out some more info that did not originally make sense. Not concerned that he will be back as this was an opportunity crime and my nanny will recognize him.

Its amazing how peoples true characters come out when things like this happen. My one neighbour, landlords mother, was having a go at the nanny before I got here. I was so lus to k@k her out tonight ...

But my other neighbour was popping in the whole time to make sure everyone was OK and came and sat with nanny to help calm her nerves.

Oh well now I need to wait another month for my new shock ... bummer ... or else I will just have to get use to working on a CRT again (got a spare in the garage). My netbook is cool but only to a certain limit.
