After getting a hammering here i went out and developed the gel bottle and flask idea and its been slow on the uptake...

This product takes away all the crap you talking about here, flask holds 3.5 servings and the bottle is 12 servings for the price of 10...

Lets clean up the roads together

Cant remember which race but It was a brilliant idea. At the end you handed in your trash and got a ticket into a lucky draw. All races should have this!!!! Also there should be spot fines if you little. Look sometimes its by accident but rarely. My example of an accident would be putting a wrapper in your pocket and as you pull your hand out one falls out but you dont know about it. Else if you feel it drops out stop and pick it up

The Whasp flask is brilliant.

So much easier than having to tear open a sachet.

Their gels are thinner consistency and higher volume so it makes it far easier to consume.

Not only are you not littering but you don't lose any speed either.

I saw plenty of riders deliberately throw their wrappers down. I just shout 'Litterbug'. They know it was directed at them but they don't know who shouted, so I avoid a fight. Hopefully they think twice before doing it again.

I can't understand how anyone would decide to mess up the place that they ride every weekend. I can think of a few unsavoury analogies but will leave that to your imagination.

I race in Vets 40-49 and from what I have seen it is the guys from the bigger teams that are the worst culprits. Not going to mention names yet but both at Lost City and Dome to Dome I have seen several guys from a couple of the teams dropping wrappers during the race. Individual riders don't seem to be as bad.

Personally I use the Whasp flask which works like a charm, no more sticky fingers or pockets.

Just don't do what I did at Kremetart, I put some Energade Jelly babies in the same pocket as the flask, halfway during the stage I tried to pull the flask out of my pocket to find it was firmly attached to a long string of snotty molten jelly babies. Big%20smile

I'm going to give this a try - both from a practical point of view, and to support a Hubber (who actually published the analysis of their productsWink)

Is it any better than the rest of the gels? (They may work, but are 'difficult to get down'!Dead)

The gel bottles are great. Only one thing to worry about in your pocket instead of 4 and no trying to rip off the end with your teeth when in a group. Best of all no litter and no sticky pocket.

This is turning into an advert for Whasp... Go Collin!!

But seriously it happens everywhere, yes in MTB races as well. Iv seen many a top pro consume and then dump. Its a shame. The KZN community seems to be the best with the no littering thing then when you get the flocks from everywhere else it looks like a rubbish dump after the race. Eston was bad then 1 week later when only KZN riders were present, Tour de Krantz was immaculately clean.

I went out to buy some of the sachets and couldn't find the quantity I wanted in the flavour I wanted at Dischem (because I decided to go and do this just before Dischem closed on Saturday afternoon and not during the week when I should have)

Long story short, they had the bottle in the flavour I wanted so I thought I'd give it a try.  Will never buy sachets again.  Great idea Pornstar - glad my laziness forced me into giving it a try ClapClap

The Whasp gel bottles work really well & maybe those BONEHEADS who litter might think twice about chucking stuff away that they can use in the next race.

You gotta try them to find out if they work for you BUT they have a few different options in Flavours which all taste pritty good & they easy to get down not to thick.

They have 1 with no caffeine(blue bottle) ,

1 with 50 mg of caffeine(pink bottle) &

1 with 100mg of caffeine (green bottle)

Take The Green gel in the last 20km of a race & it will give you such a kick you will wanna do another lap.

Big props to Ponstar and Whasp - thegel bottle is an awesome addition to anyone's gel arsenal and has probably saved the environment a few thousand gel wrappers by now.

Not quite sure why everyone doesn't have a bottle - no need to rip the wrapper open during a race with your teeth, no messy shirt after race, no stowing gel wraps, no trash after race - the bottle is faster, easier, cleaner and cheaper - wh are people still buying sachets.

Pornstar - if you were totall serious about cleaning up the evironment you wouldn't sell the sachets any more... Ok that was said in jest. Sort of Wink
