why you bitching about csa? PPA are the ones that seeded you' date=' maybe the PPA don't take your csa results into account because they are not ppa events. [/quote']

Butafly, that's why asked if Brighter Lights is from the WC. If not then he has been given one of the PPA's famous "weighted seedings" which always, and I repeat, ALWAYS favours the WC cyclists.Dead

agree, roll on National Seeding. ppa wont recognise a non ppa member sa champ.

not only that' date=' but if you want a decent seeding you better start doing some road races.

( AND DO NOT STOP FOR BREAKFAST IN KALKBAY, LUNCH IN SIMONSTOWN OR A BEER (OR 2) ON SUIKERBOSSIE DURING THE ARGUS )

On PPA's seeding page, only one race comes up for my seeding...K2C 2005 where I was 17th...

But I've done K2C 2006, 2008, 11th in 300km 3day Maxxis 2008, won almost every race in the EC.

Thing is, I do the odd classic in another province, but because I can only afford to travel to EC races (where I live) doesn't mean that I'm slow... How can organisers use an organisasion for seeding when the organisation only really covers one small area of the country.... and even races I've done in that part of the country werent used to seed me?

Part of the problem is with the K2C organisers... we were in touch with them in the weeks before now, regarding registering new talent with CSA to get them to start in the A group, and they could've told us that they're gonna use PPA and not CSA like in the old days... we just waisted money to get people registered with CSA to get them to start in the A group and now the PPA crap...

Brighter Lights welcome to the club.

I have had the same issues with PPa in the past re the Argus.

The last time I rode the Argus my national seeding was better than my brother's (who stays in CT). Yet when we got our seedings he was seeded in a better category than me.

The PPA doesn't recognise any other seeding system than their own. I just wish the CSA would force them to use the national seeding data base like the rest of the country. That way the poor riders in CT wouldn't be stuck in the same category for a whole year, but can progress throughout the year and compare their performance from race to race.

Brighter Lights,

Not once have you stated your Argus time.
Not once have you mentioned doing any of the seeding races (such as the Burger, or 94.7, OFM, etc)

So why should you be seeded at this mountain bike race ?

I got an email earlier tonight:

Dear: Johannes  Gerber

Race Number: 2634

Starting Group: 7 th Start Group

Age Category: Sub Vet Men 30 - 39 yrs

Teeshirt Size: None   ||   TShirt:   ||   Long Top:
...............................................................................

SEEDING -  for the elite and seeded riders has been allocated according to the Pedal Power Association seeding system and NOT by the race organizers. Thereafter riders were seeded according to the date that they entered.

I don't think riding on winning any arb race, even a sanctioned one, will get you a good seeding. It would have had to be a seeding race. Like riding a local, albeit sanctioned, road race won't get me back into the Argus A bunch, but kicking butt at the 94.7 will. Same concept.

You need to speak to PPA to get into the elite group otherwise you're seeded according to when you entered!

My last Karoo to Coast was 2 years ago. If you had a csa liscence you started in the 1st group 5m ahead of the 2nd group. Worked well so why did they change it? On top of this they gave it to PPA to handle who is the worst organization in the country when it comes to admin
