I can across a huge cape cobra last year. Very awesome to see.
Did it stand up and flare at you by any chance?

Why does everything always have to go off on a tangent with you? Keep it clean LMAO

My cuz was bitten on his ankle by a puffy in Sabie. Was still young at that time missed school for 8 months, my uncle had to carry him every where even the loo. Ankle had to be higher than heart at all times. At it was smelly.

Earlier this year we used up most of the supply of anti venom in somerset west. A labbie got bitten at least 3 times (we found 3 puncture wounds), by a puffie.

We got one vial from another vet and 3 from vergelegen hospital. Pumped the poor dog full. It cost the client about R1500 per vial, not cheap.

It was very sad cause the clients cried alot. Really heartbreaking for them to see their loved animal like that. It passed away the next day. Pretty sad.

snake bite kits are a waste' date=' you can do more damage with them. U need antivien for a bite and that can be more dealy than a bite. Carry a bandage with you and if u DO happen to get bitten then u start above the bite and bandage as tight as you can going back towards on over the bite. but not so tight that u stp all blood flow. and try relax Embarrassed[/quote']

Carefull with the advice leet22.

Puffies, in fact most adders, have nerve venom and your arm or leg will vrot even faster with the bandage tightened.

With Cobras and other snakes you you can do that.

My brother lost his finger playing with these outjies.

Umm.. no. Incorrect. Puff adders are cytotoxic, cobras are neurotoxic. A crepe bandage is fine for either bite but not too tight. Never apply a tourniquet. Get to a hospital asap.

Identifying the snake is important but don't get bitten again cos snakes will sometimes "dry-bite" at first.

A puff adder in the road is one thing,,,,, but what do you do  when you bump into this boy in the water ????

20091008_070918_DSC02416_Small.JPGThis adder was trying to get hold of a duck believe it or, but everytime the snake gets about two metres away from the duck ,the duck "ducked-dived "into water and swam to the back of the snake, the adder tried three time and then swam out of the dam and disappeared into the veld !! Yik !!
