24 hour at Rietvlei

Where did you Jhb guys hide all the air? I always thought that people used the "thin" air as an excuse' date=' but after experiencing that for the first time I now understand. And the heat - I got a max of 36C. I have a new respect for Jhb MTBers and cyclists in general.

now that is a rare thing to hear a capie sayLOL

Fun but hard work. Thats my verdict. And as the organisers said, there was no place to fall asleep on the track.

On the positive side, my home made lights that took me 12 months from the last Omni to research & build worked absolutely perfectly. On the negative, Canada obviously has no mud in the country as they would never have designed my bike (Opus) with such tight clearances at the wheels.

The night laps after the course was shortened were the best - if only cos the course was almost deserted (pansies - though I won't say that to your faces obviously). The 4.15am lap where you go out in the dark and experience the african dawn was also special.

Same time next year then...

Don't forget - I grew up a stone's throw away from Charlize's house Wink

Velouria' date=' what a cool race report, thanks for

sharing that lap we rode together, that was really something

special.[/quote']

I think you had 10 laps on me and you still climbed like a demon - good thing there were some technical bits for me to catch you on. Was one of my fastest laps of the whole event... Congrats again on the win - a well ridden 24hour.

- the cheery chicks with the fairy wings. i think they greeted us on every lap.

I got stuck behind one of them ... just couldn't get pastBig%20smile

Hey Hey!!! the big 5000. salute!

Funny enough, I got stuck behind one too... In the forest just before the cement uphill. She was to "pacey" to pass, but just to slow to be a comfy "wait to pass". Friendly brave young lady though.

I heard about a car accident on the N17 in which a fellow 24 hour rider and his 16 year old daughter were involved after the race on Sunday.

Lets keep the family in our thoughts and prayers.

What a great event!!!! I enjoyed it in the "comfort" of the star shape

tent and "poewe", I suffered a knee injury and thus couldn't ride but

next year I'll def "race" along!!!

Summit, what a great ride RESPECT bro, I hope that the "prize money" was enough to buy you a new set of legsWink maybe it will be a good idea to take out insurance next year then you can double the prize moneyLOL

Holy sorry I missed the beer session, I kinda got lazy at the tent and since you guys were like next to the racing line and all the riders being able to ride kinda made me miss the scene to much...

Veloura great to have met you, you really did a great job of "climatising" after all the delays etc. the first time you came back to the tent and was gasping for air I thought to myself , this oke is mad... Big up bro really enjoyed you and your wives company!!! O and by the way I think she also deserves major Clap cause she was in and out the whole time supporting and motivating!!!
