Newbie question:

If my MTB tyres are filled with slime, and i want to put some slicks on for eg The Argus.  How would i do that?  The moment i deflate the tyre, would the sealant not come out and clog the valve?

Wouldn't it be better then to fork out and buy another set of wheels for the road?

Should not seal the valve . I assume this is slime filled tubes we talking about . Buying another set of rims for road (sic) riding on your mtb would be a sin and a waste of money .

Not an expert but had the same concerns.  Deflated my tubes as much as I could and tried to make sure that the valve is higher than the tube when deflating(order to avoid leakage).

Changed tyres about 3 times so far without any problems

most slime tubes have a removable valve core - look for flats designed to take  a spanner on the sides of the valve-cap threads. unscrew the valve core, let all the air out, and then screw the core back in when you're finished. much quicker.

if I know I'm going to deflate the wheel, I do the following.

1. let the bike stand for about 10 minutes with the valve at the bottom so that all the sealant can run out of the valve.

2. turn wheel so that valve is at 3 or 9 'oclock for about a minute so that sealant can move to the bottom of the wheel

3. turn wheel so that valve is at the top. Wait about a minute so that sealant can move to the bottom of the wheel.

Now you can open the valve and almost no slime will come out. It does take time but is saves sealant.
