Clicking sound off the crank

Recently I had my new bike serviced and since i got it back i noticed a clicking sound from the crank. After some cycling on the trainer it seems to have gone, but now when i ride standing a push hard it re appears.

What can it be? Is it an issue as i am doing the 94.7? and dont wanna break down... hehe

Well does the click occur in the same crank position every rotation?

if the click is in the same crank position every rotation, it could be your pedals.

if not, turn the bike over and woble the cranks and see if there is any play at all in 1) the pedals, and 2) the crank. if there is play in the actual crank arms, it could be your BB otherwise its just pedals.

But also just incase, try loosen and re-tighten all the screws in the bikes frame, also clean out the seat post, or try riding without the screws or seatpost. they could also be the source of the clicking.

Good luck!

Take the pedals off. Give them a really good clean, around the thread area, both on pedal and crank, then lubricate (re-grease) and replace and noise should be gone.

Sorted my problem out.

I also found that rubbing candle wax on the contact area between pedal and cleat eliminated this noise.

Also found that new cleats got rid of the problem when above didn't work.

Thanks Guys, will give these tips a try. I am no expert, but it sounds to me that it is definately coming from inside the crank area... My first impression was the bearings... but I'm gonna try these tips

My experience is that it is often a loose crank. Have you tweaked the 2 bolts a tad?

My pug used to just catch the lug of the BB with the crank spider caused a tick. The shaft was not far enough "away" from the BB.

I also had a click sound coming from my crank = first thought it could be the BB or some bearings. Then i bought new pedals (just because i wanted to) and then mysteriously the sound was not there anymore
