Washing your mtb

is there any does and dont when washing your mtb?

Guess you must try not to drop soap water on your chain or re-oil it after thew wash?

how about disk pads?

And is there any danger in using a high pressure spraying machine to clean your bike?

In general i do not like a clean mountain bike (it is like having a 4x4 and you wash it every day) but you have to get the mud off to reduce damage to components?

At the end of the day, its yuor bike, clean and polish it as much as you do/dont like.

You can even take a little car polish to the paint work on the frame if you really want to.

yeah a few don't follow:

- do not wash your bike with high pressure washers. These tend to fling water into bearings and grease onto disc brake rotors

- always use soapy water.

- Always leave the bike upside down to drain water out of the fork after washing

- steer clear of aggressive solvents such as petrol, paraffin. These are not terribly friendly to oil and seals. even small quantities of paraffin in lube oil breaks down viscosity which can lad to premature wear of sliding parts.

If bike is really muddu, allow it to dry first, then bruch off the dirt with a soft brush. Thereafter, ear buds and rags get teh job done with out pushing dirt into places you don't want it.

Steer clear of using dishwashing liquid, rather use clean green or similiar.

why not using dish washing liquid?

Dish washing liquid works, just maybe not as affective as lets say Clean Green or other de-greasers
