Hi,

Can anyone maybe help me with a route wich is safe to ride by myself or a group ride in the Centurion area?

I am new to the area.

Have a great day...Big%20smile

Don't ride alone unless you go to Groenkloof or one of the other bike parks . There are a few (lots) of group rides in the area .

Epic cycles

Merv Dinkelman Cycles (Ex- Bruce Reyneke shop)

Fritz Pienaar

And then if you really wanna have a blast join the DarknDirty group on Thursday evenings for some night riding .

I am not to sure about D&D rides in December . Go and check www.darkndirty.co.za where they got all the rides listed . I am unfortunately not really able to do rides during the week at the moment .

Ignus that road bike is dangerous !!!

I will second selectcyclingclub.co.za

Will be doing a long slow one towards harties early on wednesday. Welcome to join. Will stop for coffee somewhere though. I train on coffee and pancakes, and carbo load on rump and red wine.

how far do you want to go?

Shorter option would be down Botha ave towards the city center, over Klapperkop & back. I estimate distance perhaps 20-30km. Be careful of the speed bumps on the descent from the radio tower - nasty Ouch

Longer option would be taking Hans Strijdom ave north, right in Lynnwood rd. Carry on to T-junction. Turn left on Bronkhorstspruit rd. Turn left again at the first turn-off, which is the road to Rayton/Cullinin. First on left again, Boschkop rd, which goes underneath a train bridge. Follow road till it makes a T-junction with Lynnwood road again.  Distance about 60-80km.

Perhaps it is not a bad idea to join some local group rides - for example the Velo club. details are on the www at http://www.velo.co.za/clubride.html They are accomodating of non club memebers joining rides. Their "A" group goes rather fast, & won't always wait if you get dropped.
