What type of brake pads am I looking at for the avid juicy 5? The LBS told me that I wont find the originals and BBB makes some but I wont get them before January. Any other brands?

Well I suppose if you can only get BBB in Jan then any brand will have to do for now . It is not so much he brand that you should be worried about but more if it will be metal or synthetic pads . One brakes better but does not last long , the other ones (metal) does not brake as well but last 10 times longer .

Firstly find another LBS. These pads are common, call around there will be a LBS with stock elswhere.

The bigest difference between metal and resin is the following:

Resin less noise

Resin good in dry, *** in wet

Metal lasts longer

Metal prone to noise

Metal good in wet

Metal last longer

Resin handles heat well

Metal fades with heat

Depends on your weather conditions. For me living in KZN: Metal Summer, Resin Winter. IE Resin=Dry, Metal=wet.

The originals are available, both in metal and organic.BBB makes the organic and metal as well, should be little cheaper as well
