We would like to think it is safe to ride alone but we thought the same about Northen Farm so its a difficult question to answer. I personally would never ride anywhere in JHB alone.

Well I have not heard of any problems there personally. I've ridden there a lot of times, with a nine year old girl and been ok. (But she is like a cross between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Missy Giove)...maybe I'm not a good reference!!! GreyOwl2.02010-01-05 08:00:45

Ridden Rietvlei Zoo farm on my own literally 100's of times (morning, afternoon) and never felt unsafe at all.

As others have said things change but up till now I am happy to ride there on my own! It is a lot smaller area than NF and there are also a lot of other activities/businesses that are there.

I've ridden Rietvlei a few times and never seen the "crime warning signs" like vagrants, sleeping areas unders bushes, sus characters etc.

I'd happily ride there alone.

Actualy there are one or two danger spots - there are some drop offs in the twisty forrest section that appear out of nowhere if you're giving it stick - unless you're awake/experienced it's face planting time LOL

I rode there alone a few times over the Xmas break. Never felt in any danger and I looked for all the lesser-ridden more technical trails which are a bit off the beaten track. I flippen love that place! Well done to Wendel and Co. for all their efforts.

Never can say never, but its probably one of the safest places to ride. The enthusiasm and work that Wendel and his team have put into making the place what it is is amazing.
