Used Esi grips and did not like the  circumference as it was a bit small and not shaped and contoured, I got the Giant Grips (They sell for cheap, availabe everwhere even Sportsmans and are more contoured) and they did the trick for me. they also cut easier than other grips. Make sure that the inside of the grip is not made of a different harder material that makes cutting them difficult.

I'm doing that this afternoon.

You can pm me tomorrow and ask how it went. Will only be able to test drive it later this week.

Stewie911 - post pics as well. I would like to see what they looked like once fitted. Were did you buy them and how much?

thanks

thysmeades: Sorry but I didn't have time to finish last night. Went to watch Avatar 3D. Awesome.

Anyway, here is a pic of what I've got so far.

PS - Don't cut ESI bars with knife while holding them with your other hand. Not easy to cut straight.

No problem. I did the rest last night. Unfortunatly I couldn't test drive it, but on the bike stand it worked.

I installed new cable housings, the gripshifts and new fd and rd and a chainstay protecter.

I'm just waiting to get glue to secure the piece of tube at the left hand side, then I can remove the tape. I think it would hold without the tape as well.

with these grips -RTFM !

You need to insert the bar plugs first or you will cut the grips when putting them on.  Also use windolean  etc. and wet the bar and grip and wait overnight for it to set, or it will throttle !  Also check the orientation as the one side is thicker, that needs to sit towards your palm.

If you got gripshift, get the chunky one, the racers edge is too thin for that.  Racers edge works fine with triggers.

Maybe you know this but the lbs managed to screw mine up, so ya...

I used Bontrager neoprene grips (about 100 bucks a set - I think I got them at Northcliff Cycles) - and 1 x grip cut in half fits perfectly. Easy to cut with a craft knife. Did the old hairspray thing to get them on and they're the bomb! Twisters are SRAM X7.
