I have entered the Emporers MTB ride tomorrow but have been sick since wedneday with flu, I am feeling stronger today but still coughing,  how do I know if I am well enough to ride?  even if it is just moving along really slowly

Hi Mark

Be careful. I picked up some sort of virus after our local Simonsvlei ride.

I have been coughing for 10 days now and my temperature is all over the place. It is not responding to cortizone or antibiotics. I see some of the top local riders (David George etc) are also ill with a nasty virus , so I suggest if you are still sick rather go for a very gentle ride or stay in bed. smiley5.gif

A few weeks ago I was ill for a few days...felt better for about two days or so...thort I was 100%. Went on a training ride with my club, and absolutely fell flat after about 90minutes...felt absolutely terrible...cud barely make it home. I'm sure you're looking forward to this race, but if this happens to you, it a) wont be enjoyable and b) you cud risk your health seriously. Your decision tho.

I also got a question , I also entered the emporers road but last sunday due to some @sshole's stupidity I fell and picked up a hairline crack in my elbow , can I ride or should I give it a miss ?

mark ellis,

The big distinction with training is whether it is below the neck or above the neck!

Below the neck is what you have - so, take it easy.

Rather heal fully and then return to solid form than risking racing [Remember that race days are much tougher than training days because of logistics and pressure and conformity to those around you].

Get betta soon.

I had a bit of a sniffle. Woke up at 2am today and my chest is tight as hell. I am so upset by this as I was looking forward to this event. Oh well... hope you too feel better soon.
