So if we work on the premise that the magic tool aka cell phone, or R500 band dingis, must touch your skin, then maybe try the tricks with your phone on your body..i dunno!! hehe ...but the phone thing does work. I assume it is the high frequency, GSM, in this case, around the 900Mhz range that is what causes the "magic" but try with some other" dead" object.
