What spokes? I'm about 85kg and don't have much finesse when it comes to choosing lines. But I don't jump off houses etc...

Go for the Competition spokes. I have those on the Chumba and they handle my 85kgs with no problems, even on shoulder-high drops to flat ground.

EDITED TO ADD: The Hope hubs are worth every cent in my opinion.

I had the same decision to make and eventually went with the new American Classics Tubeless wheelset instead of the Mavics Crosstrail?or?Shimano XT sets.? They are lighter and are in the same price range.

Ian - where did you get your AC rims from?

So' date=' 819's / DT Swiss 2mm Champion spokes (silver) / DT Swiss Pro lock nipples (black, cos that's the choice) with:

Hope 2 Pro Hubs: ?292
XT hubs: ?204

Are the hope hubs worth ?88 extra?

Rather get the double butted Competition spokes. Apart from being lighter, there is a good reason. (slips my mind right now, but JB will have the answer).

Oh, and I think black spokes and silver nipples look better...

(be sure to get the 2x16mm brass nipples for the 819 build)

Ja, go the double butted route. If I remmeber correctly its got to do with moving the flex (in spoke) away from where the spoke joins the hub or rim. i.e. you force the flex to the centre (smaller area) of the spoke which means there is less chance of a fatigue failure. I could be wrong though... smiley5.gif
