A beaut! Apparently, at some point the peleton also "started to pedal in anger now..." [thanks Fudge]

Stage 3:

It seems like nowadays a good team needs more than just climbers, sprinters and allrounders. If any of these are academically gifted, it'll go a long way in securing a win.

A la Paul: "He [Cancellara] will need some rapid mathematicians to work out exactly how hard they will have to work to keep that yellow jersey".

Seemed like they couldn't find any at such short notice, hence Cancel's all out effort at the end!
